Full job description

Reporting to the Station Officer, the Fire Officer is responsible for leading and assisting with the operations of Airport Emergency Services (AES) to ensure efficient response readiness. This includes managing personnel and resources to guarantee immediate action during incidents, while complying with Health and Safety regulations, General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) licensing standards, and airport policies. The role enforces strong command and control measures, adheres to emergency procedures based on national and local protocols, and maintains a safe and disciplined working environment in line with AES and airport standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Incident Command during emergencies, ensuring effective incident management and mitigation.
  • Execute high-standard command and control protocols for operational safety.
  • Collaborate with the Station Officer to manage AES Maintenance of Skills (MOS) and Structured Learning Program (SLP).
  • Administer AES training and auditing systems to comply with GCAA regulations.
  • Assist in emergency planning with the Airport Emergency Planning (AEP) team.
  • Lead and support AES-related projects, policy development, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Oversee staff development, training, and assessments.
  • Ensure AES personnel meet medical and fitness standards.
  • Manage staff-related issues, including sickness and welfare.
  • Maintain up-to-date policies, procedures, and records.
  • Conduct incident investigations and compile reports.
  • Promote and ensure compliance with the company’s Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Support sustainability goals by minimizing environmental impact.
  • Act as deputy to the Station Officer when required.
  • Perform other tasks as needed to ensure smooth business operations.

Requirements and Skills

  • Relevant certifications in the field.
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • ICAO Level 4 English proficiency.
  • Medical and physical fitness to meet assessment criteria.

Education and Qualifications :

  • Accredited certification at Watch Manager (or equivalent).
