A little taste of your day-to-day:
- Assists in sorting hotel and guest linen for washing
- Helps in timely loading and unloading of machines
- Assists in transferring linen and clothes between machines
- Feeds in linen in the flat-work iron
- Ensures timely addition of chemicals in proper quantity
- Maintains proper temperature, pressure and water level
- Ensures machines and areas are kept free of lint
- Ensures general cleanliness of the entire laundry department
- Attends all staff training meetings as when directed by the superiors
- Reports health or safety hazards to the Laundry Manager
- Receives, sorts, counts, stores and issues all F & B and room linen according to established procedures
- Assists in inventory taking
- Reports damages and loss of linen to supervisor and also assist in repairing linen
- Issue guests and cleaning supplies according to established procedures
- Maintains linen room and equipment in proper state of cleanliness and repair
- Maintains records of new linen, discard and issues
- Complies with Hotel’s health, safety and hygiene policy and adheres to conduct personal grooming and hygiene standards
- Attends meetings and training sessions as required
- Ensures proper temperature and pressure required as per the texture of the textile
- Ensures timely pressing of all items
- Ensures machines and areas are kept in proper working order
- Ensures all garments being pressed are in proper condition, else inform the supervisor, for suitable action to be taken
- Ensures broken zippers, missing buttons are replaced and mending is done if necessary
- Attends all staff training meetings as when directed by the superiors
- Reports health or safety hazards to the Laundry Manager
- Performs sewing duties including altering, fitting and mending for guests, hotel linen and uniforms
- Fits all new employees with existing uniforms
- Cuts, tailors, mends and alters uniforms
- Converts condemned items into usable items
- Sews curtains, cushions and wall coverings
- Attends to guest requests
What we need from you:
- The ideal candidate should have a minimum 1 year experience in a similar role within hospitality industry.
- Furthermore a person with detailed knowledge on housekeeping within a quality luxury brand,
- Good English communication skills are essential both oral and written.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Experience with Hotel Property Management System, Opera,
- Proactive with a meticulous eye for detail
- Strong organizational, supervisory and communication skills
- Able to convey information and ideas clearly ( Communication )
- Ability to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
- Work well in stressful, high-pressure situations
- Effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by coworkers and Guest
- Must be able to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work well with limited supervision
