Full job description

Job Title: Waiter/CashierResponsibilities:Customer Service:

  • Greet customers promptly and courteously as they enter the establishment.
  • Escort customers to their tables and present the menu.
  • Answer customer questions about menu items, specials, and ingredients.
  • Take food and drink orders accurately, making suggestions or providing recommendations when needed.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of food and beverages to customers’ tables.
  • Check in with customers during their meal to ensure satisfaction.
  • Respond to customer requests and complaints in a professional and timely manner.

Cashier Duties:

  • Accurately process customer payments using cash, credit, or debit card.
  • Issue receipts, change, and ensure the correct amount is received.
  • Maintain a clean and organized cashier station, including handling cash registers.
  • Provide customers with their bills and make sure they are correct.
  • Close out customer tabs and process payments at the end of the dining experience.
  • Maintain proper cash handling procedures, balancing the cash drawer at the end of the shift.

Food and Beverage Preparation (Optional):

  • Assist with the preparation and organization of food and beverages before serving.
  • Ensure that orders are properly garnished and visually appealing before presenting them to customers.

Teamwork and Communication:

  • Work collaboratively with kitchen staff, bussers, and other waitstaff to ensure smooth service operations.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers and management regarding customer needs, stock levels, or any issues that arise.
  • Assist with setting up tables and cleaning up after guests.

Cleaning and Maintenance:

  • Clean tables, chairs, and the dining area as necessary.
  • Ensure that condiments, silverware, and napkins are stocked and available for customers.
  • Maintain cleanliness in both the front-of-house and cashier areas, including taking out trash and organizing workstations.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (optional but preferred).
  • Previous experience in food service or cashiering is an advantage.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic math skills for handling transactions and making change.
  • Ability to work in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Demands:

  • Standing for long periods of time.
  • Ability to carry trays, dishes, and drinks.
  • Lifting and moving light to moderate weight items.
